Screenwriter Bob Saenz and script development consultant Cat Stewart will workshop audience members' loglines at the Script-Com Screenwriters Conference on November 16 & 17 in Nashville.
Saenz has written movies for Hallmark, Amazon, and he's the author of a best-selling screenwriting book and a popular YA novel. His latest film, Operation Mistletoe, is expected to hit Hulu in December. Stewart has done script development and consulting for several firms including Web3, NDevelopment, and serves as the screenplay and pitch competition manager for the Nashville Film Festival.
Bob and Cat's workshop focuses on the importance of a logline as the best sales tool to get producers and executives to read a spec script. From their perspectives on both sides of the development table, conference attendees will get an in-the-trenches look at how loglines can make or break a project.
As they've done on a recent episode of TSA's streaming show Page 2 Screen, Bob and Cat will review, critique, and workshop loglines from the audience. "A logline could determine whether a producer asks to read your script or if they'll go on to the next one in the pile," Stewart says. "You may only get 25-30 words to grab their attention... what will they be?"
Tickets to Script-Com are available now at www.ScriptCom.org. Discounts are available for students, members of the Tennessee Screenwriting Association, and members of SAG-AFTRA Nashville.
