Industry Pros Give Tips & Feedback on Pitches and Loglines at Script-Com!

TSA Newsroom

On Saturday, November 16, storytellers will have the opportunity to test out their film project's logline and to practice their pitch and get feedback from industry professionals, including Alvaro Rodriguez (Machete, From Dusk Till Dawn 3, American Rust) at the Script-Com Screenwriters Conference.

Script-Com, which is sponsored by the Tennessee Screenwriting Association ("TSA"), hosts two interactive workshops for writers, directors, and producers to help them sharpen their storytelling skills.

"The Write Stuff: Writing the Perfect Logline" features screenwriter Bob Saenz (Operation Mistletoe, Extracurricular Activities, Church People) and development consultant Cat Stewart as they help conference attendees punch up their story's logline to keep attention focused on character, conflict, and stakes. Bob and Cat did a similar exercise on a recent episode of TSA's streaming show, Page 2 Screen.

Another Script-Com workshop, "Pitches Be Crazy: the Art of the Pitch" offers Script-Com attendees the chance to practice their movie or TV series pitch in a safe space in front of industry pros and fellow writers. Cat Stewart, who has run pitch competitions for the Nashville Film Festival and writer/producer Alvaro Rodriguez who has pitched and sold multiple projects to networks and streamers, offer up tips and tricks for how to get producers or executives to say 'yes' to your project.

The workshops are part of a two-day program of seminars, panels, and workshops targeted specifically to screenwriters, TV and film producers, and independent filmmakers. The complete schedule for Script-Com, as well as the list of conference instructors is online at www.ScriptCom.org. Discounts are available for students, members of the Tennessee Screenwriting Association, and members of SAG-AFTRA Nashville.

The Script-Com Screenwriters Conference is sponsored by the Tennessee Screenwriting Association and co-sponsored by  Tennessee Entertainment Commission, Nashville Film Institute, SAG-AFTRA, Film-Com, Final Draft and Coverfly.
